A loaded windmill blade train descends down Kingman Canyon as the sounds of dynamic motors whine down the 1.6% grade of main track one. On main two, a Q LACLPC6 charges up the grade as it continues the nearly to 230 miles to Winslow. A windmill train is an extremely rare move along BNSF's southern transcon line as it has been serval years since one has ran through this region. The train originated in Fort Madison, IA and is running to be unloaded in the California desert at Newberry Springs, CA (20 miles east of Barstow). Shortly after this photo was taken, this train derailed at Topock, AZ. One car went on the ground and one of the blades rolling off the car; knocking down a power pole.
