We were returning from a trip to be with relatives and friends over Christmas and spent the night in Meridian, Mississippi. Meridian is very near the halfway point between Dallas, TX and Waxhaw, NC. The next morning I caught this collection of former Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.
The 400 mile MidSouth was another spinoff from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad in March 1986. It was a segment of the old Illinois Central between Meridian and Shreveport, LA. MidSouth engine 1801 is at Meridian, MS on January 2, 1987. It was in a string of other former Illinois Central Gulf locomotives. Disk 132
