This was the start of a 375km/230mi chase Here the combined VIA Rail Chaleur / Ocean approached our lenses in Amqui, Quebec. At Matapedia the train was broken apart, with the lead two locomotives and the green cars seen in the background continuing on to Halifax, while the last loco and the stainless steel cars went to New Carlisle, Quebec.The person in the foreground is my good friend David M, a lifelong passenger rail fan. He was my chemistry teacher in high school, although I was not a rail fan then and I was unaware of his train fascination.
