This was the VIA Rail Ocean at the Moncton, New Brunswick station yesterday. The green cars are European cars originally intended for the proposed Nightstar service between England and Europe via the Channel Tunnel. This never happened, and VIA bought the half-completed cars and finished many of them into passenger cars. Since they have couplers that are incompatible with North American standards, they require adapters to couple up to cars like the Assiniboine Park seen here on the rear. The last green car is a "transition car" with a Nightstar-compatible coupler on one end and a knuckle coupler on the other. The baggage car at the head end has a similar arrangement so it can connect to the engines.
