Hello +Walter Parks and thank you for the invite

Reshared post from +Kevin Lyons

Hello +Walter Parks and thank you for the invite. I grew up in a railroad family but never had the experience of working for Southern Pacific. Our town was a central station back in the day. Two hard working lumber mills and on the mainline from Seattle to LA. My great aunt used to work in the turntable house. In time, the mills closed, the Amtrak didn"t stop anymore, and the old depot was tore down. What used to be around 500 workers is to this day about 30. I have posted a few photos of tracks and trains of the area in another community so some of what I post here will be a repeat. Sorry in advance. I"ve loved trains all my life and now living in Germany, I get to experience a different level of transport trains and commuter trains.
My grandfather was a powder monkey, my three uncles were engineers, my step father ran a Gradall (sp?) and several cousins were engineers. My opening photo is one of the old trestle from one of the mills that closed. This old spur is no longer in use and I"m afraid in time, the old trestle will fall.

Hello +Walter Parks and thank you for the invite
